Benevolence Labs ("we," "our," or "us") operates the websites lactcheck.benevolencelabs.com and diginoise.benevolencelabs.com, along with the DigiNoise desktop application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

We believe in transparency and minimal data collection. We don't want your data—we just want to build tools that help people.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Drug queries — When you use LactCheck, you enter drug names to look up safety information. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
  • No account required — You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use our services.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Server logs — Our web servers collect standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging purposes. We do not use this data for tracking or profiling.
  • No cookies — We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
  • No analytics — We do not use Google Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, or any third-party analytics tools.

Third-Party Services

  • PubChem (NCBI) — When you query a drug, our API sends the drug name to PubChem's public API to retrieve molecular properties. This is a public API with its own privacy policy.
  • Vercel — Our frontend is hosted on Vercel, which may collect server-side logs. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
  • Hetzner — Our ML API runs on Hetzner's infrastructure in Finland. See Hetzner's Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the LactCheck and DigiNoise services
  • Improve and maintain our services
  • Debug technical issues
  • Protect our services from abuse

We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage & Retention

  • Drug queries — We do not store your drug queries. Each query is processed in real-time and discarded.
  • Server logs — Standard server logs are retained for a limited time (typically 7-14 days) for security and debugging purposes, then deleted.
  • DigiNoise — The DigiNoise application runs entirely on your local device. We do not receive any data from your use of the application.

4. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

5. Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal data, there's not much to manage—but if you have questions:

  • Access — You can use our services without providing any personal information
  • Deletion — We don't store your data, so there's nothing to delete
  • Contact — Reach us at the email below for any privacy-related questions
